Feedback for Experiment

OK folks, I'm experimenting with some capitalism here. Please give me feedback. What you'll notice:

1. The Visa/MC donate button (on every post).
2. A google search bar.
3. Adsense ad tower lower right.
4. Homefront bookstore, which is an Amazon affiliates thingy.
5. My "Reads" list is set up throught Amazon affiliates as well.

What I want to know is this:
1. Which of these, if any, takes away from what I am trying to do on this blog?
2. Did you notice anything offensive besides an overt attempt to sell ads? What I mean is, did anything nasty appear on my blog that a nice Christian boy like me would never approve of?
3. How tempted are you to actually click on anything here?

You might want to shorten the Google search form box from size="31" to size="15" so it doesn't mess up your right navigation bar.

Whom would I be paying on every post? Would you know which post I was paying for?

'Cause I might give you my two cents' worth for some of them. But maybe not for others!

Ha! Please don't give your two cents. It'll cost me 31 cents just to get your two cents.

Donations on this blog will go to the (CGDRI) Chris Gonzalez Debt Reduction Initiative.

Good tip on the google bar. I'll see what I can do.

Chris, I don't look at ANYTHING except your post. I am not after the fluff.....I want the MEAT! :)

The ads are way too far down, I'll hardly ever see them.

I have the google toolbar on IE so I don't need the search box.

And I won't give you a donation, but I did put a quarter on your desk to pay you back for my coke yesterday.

I finally have something to write about and submit to what would Jesus do next. I will write about overturning your money tables/ visa-mastercard button. Jesus enters cyberspace and hacks Chris' blog! I'm pumped. There was an ad for good looking Christian singles, I didn't see one for ugly singles. So thats good!

I am oblivious to what is on the side.... you may not want sponsors to know that..

donation buttons on every article seems a bit excessive, don't you think? At the very least, it's distracting, if not downright tacky. Put your donation button just above your google ads, or make it a text link down by the comments link.

that's my $.02

Yesterday, you posted about how reading McLaren's book changed your view of Hell and today you post this?

Wow! I must read McLaren's book.

Know where I might pick up a copy?

(hehehehe)

The donate button on the top is gaudy and obtrusive in its current location; the Google search bar and ads are not.

It is inevitable these days..all prophets eventually fold into the system.

So ... by posting the VISA/MC link, you're not afraid of being mistaken for a prophet who's in the business for the bucks? (1 Timothy 6:3-6)

Or, since you're blogging the gospel, is it more that you should be making your living from the gospel? (1 Corinthians 9:14)

And do the rest of us get a cut if we make really, really good comments?

Fajita said...

Thank you all for your comments. I, too think that that Visa/MC button placement was just plain stupid. I moved it near the google ads so no one is going to have to see it. And I'll probably just cut it all anyway, except maybe for the Amazon links, which do not interfere with the look of the blog, which is wonderfully minimalist, don't you think?.

I think what I might do is a few other blogs that are intentionally commercial. This blog just does not seem to fit that mold.

I really appreaciate your feedback. Love honesty.

And Keith, your comments are so valuable that to even try to put a monetary value to them, no matter what it is, would be an insult to you. So, rather than insult you with a small cut for your brilliance, I will insult you with nothing.

By the way, with the money that has rolled in over the weekend from my many income streams all combined, well, let's just say my children would be insulted if I gave it to them for allowance.

Alright, Google Ads are gone! I read one of the ads that came up and it made me feel sick - and I promoted it here on Homefront.

Donation button, Gone! This is not really something to donate to. Your donation is your readership and your comments.

Google search bar stays as that might actually be helpful to someone.

Non intrusive amazon links stay. I promise to make them relevant resources and not to orbit my posts around these resources. I'll post what I'll post and if there is something relevant to the post that could be linked, I'll link it if I'm not too lazy, which is a huge possibility.

Peace.

Hrmmm...

I appear to be a bit late.

Anyway, is there a way to automate the coding of these "I'm reading" lists I see about with pretty pictures of the books?
