Thanks for stretching us......again. :)
Now go get Jinky with it!

Your brother,
DUDavid Uhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04087224962012899721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439195.post-1107568634314369602005-02-04T19:57:00.000-06:002005-02-04T19:57:00.000-06:00Chris, you said:
"Isn’t there confession beyond ...Chris, you said:
"Isn’t there confession beyond the almost extinct and humiliating walk down center aisle to make the general, 'I sinned, pray for me' statement, leaving everyone’s mind to wander into realms of evil you never even entered, as they hug you, smile and give assurances of prayer? Nothing wrong with it, but is it the only way?"

Two sentences, two diverging trains of thought. Sentence number one gets me thinking, 'he's right! There's something wrong with that!' Sentence number two tells me, 'No, there's nothing wrong with it, it sounds like confession in hell, but there's nothing wrong with it.'

Oh, there's something wrong with it all right, quite a few things wrong with it! Your jinky post, on the other hand, challenges me to experiment with thought and faith. I like it. OK,...Velma from Scooby Doo gets Jinky with things.

OK, now that just doesn't sound right.Fajitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704189756009543355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439195.post-1107547365988820922005-02-04T14:02:00.000-06:002005-02-04T14:02:00.000-06:00The preaching minister at my home church just fini...The preaching minister at my home church just finished a series on "spiritual formation" using Foster's classic as a primary text. I join you and Foster in wondering if there are more than nine disciplines. Like yearning. Or grief. Or divestment. (That may not be the right word ... I'm looking for something akin to "shedding the skin"; ridding one's self of dross, superfluous wealth, distraction, barriers.) I know that's part of the goal of all of them - especially simplicity - but I wonder if it's a discipline too.

"Jinky," "janky" and "jiggy" all appear to mean "loose, fun, enjoyable" - though the "jiggy" spelling seems to have been antiquated by the late 1990s. So, as to the suggestion to "get jinky with experimentation," I believe my only appropriate response can be "I'm tight wi' dat."Keith Brentonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08370891993969932472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439195.post-1107529718634247292005-02-04T09:08:00.000-06:002005-02-04T09:08:00.000-06:00I hope that you are right about experimentation. I...I hope that you are right about experimentation. I do know that it takes constant leadership. It is easy to find a new patch of grass and get comfortable and never look over the next hill where an even better (or worse) patch of grass exists. You asked for it so I posted the "rules and patterns of the church of Christ" on my Blog.
